1970 skylark rear end

Post by dustin.carter2 »

Im kind of new to the drag racing scene and im looking to build my first car. I have a 1970 Buick Skylark with an 8.2 10 bolt rear end. Every source i have looked at is saying this rearend cant hold up even rebuilt with new axles, differental, and ring/gears. This is going to be a street strip car runing a built 355 sbc with a 175 shot of NO2 and a powerglide. Tires are 275/60/15 drag radials and maybe see slick sometimes. The question is can it acually be built to with stand and estimated 450 to 500 torque. If not i have a ford 8.8 laying around out of a 1987 ford f150. Will it fit with some modification? Any personal experience or advice would be much appreciated.
