Re: Index racing returns to E'Town and there are changes
can't say i'm happy with this
my car runs 11.70's and no expenses and i run mean street and 12.0 classes
i like 12.0 and it was nice having a choice for saturdays . don't want to go faster anymore , almost went bankrupt chasing that dream .
guess i get to keep traveling south ?
just wish etown would consult the racers who support them once in a while

Re: Index racing returns to E'Town and there are changes
Was a shocker to me too and those that know me also know I certainly have an "in" there. LOL.
There are a handful of cars that run Mean Street that can also (and some do) run the 10.0 Index.
There were very few cars in the 11.0 Index class.
The 12.0 Index class was hit or miss too.
The only reason the 10.0 Index class had a car-count was because of the Atco racers. They weren't too happy with some of the rules, but the no-wheelie bar rule WAS NOT actually a rule this past year and NO ONE got tossed for having bars. E-Town left the class pretty open to try and get the car count up. That meant slicks and wheelie bars were allowed. Deep-Staging was allowed and was honored.
Make more rules, lose more cars, that simple.
I feel that if E-Town and Atco can schedule alternating weeks it should work out fine.
E-Town, Atco, and Island work together with their schedules as much as possible. They may or may not consult Cecil, but that track is a far drive for many, just as far as Maple Grove, just a lot easier to get to!

SSSShhhhhh--
Maybe Mean Street will run with the gamblers on alternate Fridays.
And 11.50---10.00---- and 8.50 will all run together in a night of Pro tree INDEX racing--

Looks that way old ragtop.............
BTW, how is your car coming along? You're gonna be collecting SS before you even get to race in the Index Class that YOU helped get going here! Now get a move-on mister, or fix the dents in my truck!
Yeah, I still need my deck lid painted, but you have to finish your car FIRST!!!!!

dont mean to stir the pot but i havent seen one happy person yet.....
cecil will have 40+ cars at every event in each class 10/12
Atco will have 28-35 at every event in each class 10/12
englishtown, well the'd be lucky to have 20......TOTAL

It is not a track competition.
It is a option for a racer.

Some of the 8.50 racers could chime in and let us know how close to that it was this year.
8.50s two qualifying sessions are 6:30 and 7:00 first round is about 7:45-
BUT be ready when called and basically round robin after that !!!! 8.50 finished ALL races last year

What exactly do you mean?
Keith, round robin is going to be difficult in the hot summer months. These motors don't cool down THAT quickly.

Not to start anything, but I have questions.
1. Redgar, can you run round robin? In hot weather, motors & trannys NEED to be cooled. Grenading our stuff is not on the agenda for this year. We need to cool the car off.
2. Even Keith gave us 7 minutes between rounds.
Seriously though, we had at least 15 minutes to get ready between rounds & that was pushing it. Rushing any 8.50 racer to get right back to the lanes could prove to be hazardous. Think about it. 3. There are two other tracks that offer this program, One on a Sat & oe on a Sun. That allows plenty of time between rounds should a racer encounter a problem.
4. The 8.50 proved successful for E-town in 2008. Why not add it to the weekend schedule?
While this is NOT a competition between tracks, The track that accommodates the racer the most is going to win out.

Working on car every day I'll put up some pics soon--JTL should have motor done and Jeff wants Dyno time---I'll put up results and combo :chevy:JerzeyGirl wrote:REDGAR wrote:It is not a track competition.

Sue, I feel that this coming year will go even smoother than last--we'll have plenty of time between rounds and hopefully I learned from my mistakes
I have worked with racers that needed some extra time between rounds last year. I'll be working closely with Allen as he pulls the lanes, so that more time in pits and less in lanes
Saftey is # 1 .Hope to see more racers support E-TOWNS commitment to 8.50 and sign up for points

I do have to say you were very patient with me last season Keith and waited for us each and every time. I'm hoping that with more time in the pits and less time in the staging lanes will allow us to get it done. Pit time was my first concern when the addition of 10.0/11.50 was announced. Last season found me with a dead battery on more than one occassion because there just wasn't enough time to charge.
Oh, and I definitely plan on signing up for points this season!______________________________

Re: Index racing returns to E'Town and there are changes
sorry for the late reply...Keith has addressed some already but here goes.
1. If the question is about my car going round robin, I am a 10.50 car so yes I can. If the question is about 8.50 cars doing it, Keith has addressed this.
2. Keith has addressed this as well
3. I think you might be talkiing 8.50 here again not 10 and 11.5. Again I think Keith addressed this.
4. This is a very good question and one I and many others, as you, ponder. Unfortunately, I am just a racer who cares about sharing options with fellow racers and I was not involved in the decision to move the slower indexes to Friday instead of the quicker index to Saturday. We racers will ultimately chose what is best for ourselves, for our own personal reasons. A few years ago we did not have a choice to do this type of racing so it is nice to know we have options. I personally do not fit well in any of the classes at any of the tracks but I like to know when and if I can, I can do it somewhere.

Keith, I know you know what SS is, but just in case you don't, SOCIAL SECURITY!!!!!!!!!!!
Get your car done before you start collecting SS my friend!!!!!!!!
As far as those that are worried about round-robin...............
I race all year long at E-Town, on Sundays I do Top Street and Pro, usually go round in both, probably make about 10 passes a day. Yes, cooling the car off is a hassle, but I get it done. old Ragtop can vouch for that!
The typical track rule is that 15 minutes after the LAST car in a certain class goes down the track, that class will get called back to the lanes. So, if you are in the first pair down you have more cool-down time than the last pair down. In a 4-round race, that isn't much of a difference.
Most of the 8.50 cars are towed to and from the lanes unlike us lower-life smucks, right Redgar!

winter is here for sure.....
I see a lot of E town regualrs in here, see you all next year, im hitting a pratice tree every night so i will CRUSH you all next year.......
About the time between rounds....i say its fine, id rather be getting ready and racing all night then standing around waiting....Just make sure your crew knows what to do , and get it done as quick and fast and safely as possible. WE all raced last year , and it all went off great......Oh i can remember it now, waiting in the lanes for maybe an hour or more...sound familiar??? Oh yea, thats at ANOTHER track, NOT E town, Dont forget we were treated like royalty at E town. I have raced 8.50 at all three tracks that offer it, and im not lying, E town runs the best, smoothest program ive run in . A lot of that is Mr Organization...aka Keith .
You all know that most of the time its only me and my son, thats all i have for a crew, and we can get it done so can all of you.....
As for 68Ragtop.......get the car done.....were waiting for you
I think 2009 is going to be better than ever
ok time to go and hit the practice tree
