How much info beyond what's on the cam card would be useful to a builder? The reason I ask is that I recently had a solid roller made for me (at a premium price mind you) and I'm having trouble getting any info on it besides what's on the card. Would lobe intensity play a big role in spring selection? I assume that can't be determined from .020 and .050 numbers?

Am I worrying about trivial stuff or should I keep after the cam designer to get more info?

TIA, Kirk

Most likely your custom cam was made from lobes currently in their catalog. if you know what lobes they used then you can pass that on to the builder. If you have the intensity numbers, they can use that also. Maybe call your cam guy and ask what springs they run on those lobes.

My cam / spring selection process was actually a little backwards. To save money, I want to use springs that I already had. I knew that they would be ok for my application (solid street roller) and I asked the designer to spec out a cam that would fit my performance requirements with these springs in mind.

I think I will be fine with his cam but I have learned to not take anything for granted on this build. Seems like every time I assume that something will go as planned, it doesn't. I just want to have as much info for the builder as possible to get his opinion on the selection.

I didn't think I would have any problem getting info from the designer but unfortunately that hasn't been the case. Like I said, I have the cam card, should I be that worried about any more info?
