Sorry for the delay, everyone. As you know I have a lot going on in my personal life and healthwise.. I am doing my best to get speedy updates, this one I know I am slacking.. I had this done for a few days just had to finish things off

Trailers were lined up at the gate as I arrived at the track.. the weather report was great, with an unseasonably cool night coming our way. You all know what that the cooler nights at E-town means -- gotta watch out for breakouts! The track staff was not slouching either, rushing through the race to get people back to the staging lanes and make sure the race got done before the curfew. Track prep looked good as I saw them spray a good bit of the track before eliminations and they refreshed the starting line each round as well.

11.50 Index

We have many 11.50 folks from the regular Corvette series at Raceway Park in this class, and they sure are tough competitors. Vettes took the top 3 qualifying spots, the #1 belonging to Ellis Gray. Behind him was Rob Farley and Shay LaScalla.

Round 1
Shay LaScalla in her sweeet '07 Vette rolled up to the line against Shawn Cavanagh's Silver '03. Shawn was on point with a .008 light, but Shay had the power and zoomed on to an 11.595 pass, on the brakes through the traps, taking the win. Next up was Bruce Katz in his late model GTO against Rob Farley. Farley had Bruce at the tree, and was .006 ahead in overall elapsed time to take the round 1 win with a 11.614. Rich Smith got a huge jump on the #1 qualifier Ellis Gray, his Olds doing a frame twisting launch. The advantage at the tree was .122, good enough to give Rich the holeshot win against Gray and take out the #1 qualifier. Willie Wager and Jim Ricchezza wrapped up the first round, a Buick vs. Mustang battle. Both were close leaving the line, and another thing they have in common is the ability to run well over the index. Both cars were in the 11.30's, but Willie was over less with an 11.345.

Semi-finals
Rob Farley in the Pace Car rolled to the line against Willie Wager's red Buick. Farley put up the best pass for all of eliminations, an 11.518. Willie slowed down a little too much on this pass, an 11.601, and was on his way home. Shay LaScalla and Rich Smith made up the final pairing in the semis. We talked to Rich before entering the track, he said he had upped the Nitrous in the car and needed to hold back a little at first to avoid going too fast.. that worked in round #1, but not in round #2. Rich broke out, with an 11.462 pass, and Shay was solid with a .016 reaction time and 11.575 pass to put her in the finals.

Finals
#2 and #3 qualifiers met in the finals of the now Vette.50 Index, Rob Farley and Shay LaScalla. Rob goes red by .027, a mistake that costs him the win for the night. Rob had a great pass of 11.526, but it didn't matter. Shay rocketed down the track without the need to hit the brakes, she ran an 11.421.

10.0 Index

If you have been following the 10.0 class, you guys will see that the racers in this class continue to be dangerous. During Qualifying, we saw a 10.04 from Paul Cottone, who backed that up with a 10.019 in the second round of qualifying. Mike Beck was right behind Paul with a 10.020, and #3 was David Shen with a 10.047. We were going to see some close ones tonight!

Round 1
Scott Dalrymple and Edgar 'Redgar' Perez start off the 10.0 Index Eliminations. Both took off with equal .120 reaction times, Scott with the better of the matchup, a 10.332. Dominic Lamorte went red in the next matchup, giving Ronnie Diaz the win, Diaz running a 10.223. Two of the ringers came up next, Mike Beck and Carey Cable. We can't bust Carey's stones tonight, he had a good reaction time of .036 with Mike's also good .051. Both racers broke out, Carey by .005 less and moves on with a 9.968, taking out the #2 qualifier. Mike Romeo was up next against Rob Corujo. Coruju had some problems, an 11.225 pass, Mike was much closer with a 10.370 and moves on. David Shen got the jump on Edwin Sepulveda, leaving with a .1 advantage, and carrying that all the way to the end. Both racers broke put but Shen was closer with a 9.983, not too far off of the Index. Robert DApolito smoked Ken Morris at the tree, Morris had no chance with a .532 reaction time. To finish up the round, Brendan Mills and Paul Cottone both had single runs (Mills due to breakage - Victor Chacon).

Round 2
Starting up the round was a pair of Mustangs - Paul Cottone and Ronnie Diaz. Diaz tried to cut a good light but goes red by .004, Cottone ran it out and put a 10.056 on the boards - slowing it down enough for this pass. Check out the reaction times on this next pair! Carey Cable .001, Scott Dalrymple .005. So close off the line, but Carey makesit to the stripe first with a 10.117 pass. Rob DApolito had a .273 reaction time, something you cannot do against Mike Romeo. Romeo takes advantage, has a good pass as he lifts at just the right time to put up a 10.069 on the scoreboards. Finishing up the roundw as David Shen vs. Brendan Mills. Brendan got treed (even admitted it to us later in the staging lanes) and wastes a 10.029 pass, Shen still doing well, a .004 reaction time and 10.042 elapsed time.

Semi-finals
David Shen puts up another impressive reaction time, this time a .005. Paul Cottone also was close, but he was a hair early and goes red by .003, giving Shen the win before the cars even got going. Shen runs it out and puts up a 9.993, taking out the #1 qualifier. Last up was Mike Romeo and Carey Cable, looking to be a good race. Mike was off first, with a .030 advantage from the starting line. Carey breaks out with a 9.981, while Romeo runs a solid 10.018, earning his way to yet another 10.0 Index final.

Finals
David Shen has had a few solid rounds up to this point, but Mike Romeo has made just about every 10.0 Index final this year and is no easy person to take out. However, Shen did just that! Both racers break out, Shen a 9.993 again, and Romeo 9.987, the .006 difference giving Shen the winner's trophy for the night.

8.50 Index
Jason Penna takes the #1 Qualifier spot with an awesome 8.501 pass in the second round of qualifying. Right behind him is TJ Kasper with an 8.502, looking to take another win home in 8.50. Shawn Gallagher and John Goss, two racers not unfamiliar with the winner's circle as well, brought up the #3 and #4 spots. During the second round of qualifying, regular 8.50 racer Rob Poochigian ran into some bad luck as his hood flew up and off the car. There was some damage to the car as the hood flipped back, we hope that it's not too serious and Rob will return to racing as soon as possible!

Round 1
shawn gallagher and Sal Kazalski get things going here. Sal goes red by .065, Gallagher runs it out to get some info and runs a nice 8.496, he needs to slow it down just a blink the next time out. Bobby Moran's blown Camaro made its way to the staging beams, always fun to watch, against John Albrecht's good looking Monte. Both leave about even, but Bobby was much closer to the index, an 8.632 to win vs. John's 8.829. Ali Buscio and Jason Penna come up next. Jason had the jump with a great light, an .015, Ali not too shaby with an .034. Both racers broke out, Penna 8.470 and ali with an 8.486 to take a big win against the #1 qualifier. Tony Skojec got out faster than Billy Verzilli by about 4 hundreths. Billy got to the traps faster, but too fast, an 8.444 a bigger breakout than Tony's 8.462. TJ Kasper lines up with Angelo Valla next. Angelo gets out on the kid with an .011 advantage, and runs a nice pass of 8.574 but TJ just knows where to slow down and does a better job with an 8.546. Mike Conway treed Al Yarusinsky, but throws it away as he beraks out and Albet moves to round #2 with an 8.620. Clayon Cranston goes red by a mile, rolling the beams then I think the rear tires actually accounted for his time; Wiso Melendez saw the win light and let off early, moving on to round #2. Finishing up the round was Gary Federico and John Goss, JOhn takes off and does not look back, a move that cost him, his 8.443 sends him home and Gary moves on with a 9.435.

Round 2
Shawn Gallagher got a huge jump on Bobby Moran, a .127 advantage. Bobby drove around him (And broke out) but there was nothing that could be done against Shawn's 8.549 run. Wiso and TJ Kasper came to the line next, Wiso lit both bulbs and the starter backed him out as courtesy staging is in effect. once both racers were staged, Wiso goes red and TJ puts up a .012 light and 8.475 pass, he'll need to slow it down a bit if he wants to continue on after the semis. Gary Federico's car just does not have the power to keep up with Albert Yarusinski, Yarusinsky gets on the brakes near the end and runs an 8.670. Finishing off the round was Tony Skojec and Ali Buscio. Ali gets away with the wheels up and has a great run, but goes over the index by .002 seconds, tough break. Tony moves to the semis.

Semi-finals

Albert Yarusinsky and TJ Kasper start it off. Both leave about even, and TJ tosses the chutes early like usual; this time, not early enough, and Albert Yarusinski runs a solid 8.520 and moves on to the finals. Shawn Gallagher and Tony Skojec are the remaining pair before the finals. Gallagher double bulbs Skojec, as the starter was walking up to back out Gallagher, Skojec goes in fast and the tree comes down, Skojec went red. Gallagher runs a nice 8.582 and is headed off to the finals.

Finals
Shawn Gallagher vs. Albert Yarusinski. Shawn trees Albert by .056, a costly mistake by Albert as this gives Shawn all the leverage he needs to take the win. He does just that, a holeshot win with an 8.619 pass @139 to Yarusinski's 8.579 @ 151. Congrats team Gallagher!
