Some of you had spoken to me at 75/80 that you would be willing to pay a higher entry fee in order to run for a higher purse. I know Cecil County is $55.0 entry and I believe the Winner gets $450. and Runner Up is $150. Is this the same scale at Atco now? I checked 75/80 6.50 Index (1/8 mile) class that runs every Friday night and some selected Sat dates, and they Pay $500. to win, $200. R/U, $75.00 Semis and $50. 1/4's with a $50.00 entry. We all know the travel expense, so as I put it the other day, if I am going to pay $75.00 or more in diesel, $25.00 or more in tolls, add a crew person, plus the entry fee, food,etc....why wouldn't I pay an extra $20.00 in entry if the payout went up accordingly. This last race pulled 25 cars, and the next time it is done I'm sure it will bring 30 plus with $1200. to win. That was an $85.00 entry fee,which isn't a regular occurence. Next would be adding sponsors. I know guys can help obtain sponsors even if its $250.00 for the season to help with payout. Rob Ward and I had paid a combined $1000. to sponsor a 10.00 class a few years ago. What are racers willing to spend in entry, and what payout would you expect in return.

No takers? Another idea was a points payout put up by the racers. Before the season starts each racer puts in a $100. bucks, and using the tracks own points scoring award 75 pct to 1st place and 25 pct to runner up at season's end. Years ago we did the Gambler's Pot, where anyone interested on that given day would throw in an extra $20.00, and the person who went the farthest in eliminations would get the extra cash. The racers can make things happen by working together.

Matt, i thought that your race was good for a purse to entry ratio. larger purses are nice to have and should help with car counts. several years ago we did a gamblers purse at e-town when they first started their index classes. as i remember it only lasted the one year as it was not required to race and not all racers took part. there was a 'racers calcutta ' proposed at atco to help raisse the purse but it never gained traction.

It seems the topic over on Yellow Bullet has tied car count to payout....no shock there. More cars equals more money. It was odd to see Halsey Mention for the class to survive...
Sounds like it will be up to us to figure out how to Right The Ship, or options may be taken out of our hands.

Dave O. did send me a reply about sponsors, and was open to any $$$ going back into payout. He also did respond that if car count goes up so will the payout.I guess it's time to start making phone calls.
